How to build and increase brand awareness through the power of your people
🚀 In today’s world, it’s increasingly beneficial for any organisation to spotlight its culture and purpose on social media. This can be done through showing how you interact with your customers and the general public on Twitter or showcasing your work-life on LinkedIn.
And what better way to showcase your culture and purpose, then through enabling your own people to tell their work stories. As any external communication on your organisation will be more authentic and credible if told by your employees.
So how can you do this? Well, here are two tips to help get you started:
✍️ Tip One - Help employees shape their own narrative
Help them uncover the ‘a-ha moment’. Or identify the issue or challenge that shaped their world view and what have they now learned?
Ask, if your life was a movie what would be the opening scene? Or, what is your superpower that helped you overcome an issue?
Help them make their story human. Bringing them out of their shell in a way that is comfortable for them can lead to inspiring stories. At the end of the day, real stories are what people want to read.
📲 Tip Two - Take a holistic approach to posting on different platforms
Just as important as identifying how to relay your employee story through social media is knowing what social channel to use to share it.
Does a video on Instagram work best? Perhaps a Twitter thread, or a LinkedIn blog?
Taking a holistic approach to each post is the best way to determine which platforms will be most successful. And learn by doing. What type of content has worked well on what channel. What can we learn from the numbers and engagement rates?
🙏Allowing your own employees to tell their stories on your social channels helps build an authentic brand voice that shows a true picture of what your company is like and the values you hold.
